Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.73%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which rose 8.36% or 0.59 points to trade at 7.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 6.44% or 1.14 points to end at 18.83 and WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) was up 4.95% or 0.92 points to 19.49 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3), which fell 4.01% or 0.59 points to trade at 14.12 at the close. Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11) declined 2.73% or 0.40 points to end at 14.25 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was down 1.02% or 0.10 points to 9.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 230 to 191 and 38 ended unchanged.
Shares in Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.73% or 0.40 to 14.25.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.73% to 50.98.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.36% or 4.30 to $1205.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.14% or 0.78 to hit $67.94 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.26% or 1.30 to trade at $102.20 .
USD/BRL was down 2.03% to 4.0633, while EUR/BRL fell 1.99% to 4.7251.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 94.97.
