Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 2.77%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 4.54% or 1.28 points to trade at 29.56 at the close. Meanwhile, Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 4.24% or 1.910 points to end at 47.000 and ING Groep NV (AS:ING) was up 4.09% or 0.408 points to 10.390 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Elia (BR:ELI), which rose 1.04% or 0.495 points to trade at 48.260 at the close. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) added 1.25% or 1.30 points to end at 105.70 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.62% or 1.03 points to 64.63.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 121 to 20 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in Elia (BR:ELI) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.04% or 0.495 to 48.260.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.44% or 5.65 to $1289.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.64% or 1.28 to hit $49.84 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.66% or 1.31 to trade at $50.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.30% to 1.1311, while EUR/GBP fell 1.85% to 0.7708.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.58% at 93.75.
