Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Healthcare and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Orora Ltd (ASX:ORA), which rose 13.92% or 0.38 points to trade at 3.11 at the close. Meanwhile, Polynovo Ltd (ASX:PNV) added 11.89% or 0.270 points to end at 2.540 and CYBG PLC (ASX:CYB) was up 3.15% or 0.060 points to 1.965 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:CUV), which fell 14.76% or 6.640 points to trade at 38.360 at the close. Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:RSG) declined 11.23% or 0.160 points to end at 1.265 and Pro Medicus Ltd (ASX:PME) was down 4.11% or 1.280 points to 29.840.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 603 to 476 and 322 ended unchanged.
Shares in Polynovo Ltd (ASX:PNV) rose to all time highs; up 11.89% or 0.270 to 2.540.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 1.10% to 15.257.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.16% or 2.35 to $1510.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $52.49 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.10% or 0.06 to trade at $58.26 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.33% to 0.6745, while AUD/JPY rose 0.36% to 72.51.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 98.703.
