A team of leading industry partners has joined with early blockchain co-inventors Drs. Stuart Haber and W. Scott Stornetta to commemorate the birth of blockchain technology and mark its past, present, and future. The event is a celebration of the community and the journey.
Exactly 30 years ago today, what is commonly called the “genesis block” was first published, marking the 30th anniversary of the world’s oldest continuously running primitive blockchain.
The celebration will be over on January 03, 2022, 13 years after the genesis block was created. To guarantee the integrity of all Bitcoin transactions, Satoshi Nakamoto used Haber and Stornetta’s mechanism described in his white paper, Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System. There are three references to Satoshi’s technical papers in his eight footnotes.
A collection of NFTs will commemorate the history of the blockchain and honor the innovators, thought leaders, and founders of this community. In a novel mechanism, the NFTs will be auctioned by a number of different blockchains working at the layer-1 level and will include a number of different communities.
Global NFT Thought Leader and Artnome.com and ClubNFT Founder Jason Bailey said,
“Without the work of Stuart Haber and Scott Stornetta there are no NFTs, no Bitcoin, and no blockchain. I’m thrilled that they are using this opportunity to create an NFT with the goal of unifying everyone within the blockchain ecosystem in a way that I believe only they can.”
Co-founder and CEO of the Kadena blockchain and smart contract platform Stuart Popejoy explained that they are delighted and honored to be participating in Immutable Record’s celebration of blockchain. In addition, the Immutable Record’s NFT service enables the NFT industry to grow with its multi-protocol approach, which also exploits Kadena’s unique advantages, such as institutional-grade provenance, on-chain minting, and custom marketplaces.
