aud is a risk on currency. when commodities and stocks do well aud goes up and opposite as stocks fall and also interest rate in aus is low and moving anywhere for time where as in USA it is going looks like every quarter. so that's way the difference

international fund managers buy banks and other bigger stocks ride em up pushing up the index then sell hopefully for a profit

There is no relation really ..This is the futures market for the top 200 stocks in Australia verses the currency ..When the Aud drops international fund managers may buy Aussie stocks and futures as they might get a stock gain and a FX gain if they time there excite right
