Further, the company has a collaborative research and license agreement with The Yale University School of Medicine to differentiate benign melanocytic nevi from malignant melanoma; a collaborative research agreement with the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to improve the analysis of early stage lung adenocarcinoma; and a collaboration with Protein Metrics Inc. for further applications development of the analytical software for Protea’s bioanalytical services. It also has an agreement with MatTek Corporation that allows the company to include MatTek’s human cell based in vitro tissue models with its molecular imaging services. The company serves pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnology companies, and academic and government laboratories worldwide. Protea Biosciences Group, Inc. was formerly known as Protea Biosciences, Inc. and changed its name to Protea Biosciences Group, Inc. in September 2011. The company was founded in 2001 and is based in Morgantown, West Virginia. On December 1, 2017, Protea Biosciences Group, Inc., filed a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.
