Financials for AMC to keep Mikey informed (did this on GME but ... oh boy, I was always thinking those are the same hoax with AMC just being somewhat worse but this one is something else): AMC sells tickets and food for a total of 4.8b, most of it from admission (which is surprising to me because a good movie theater should be mostly making money from overpriced popcorn - but food only accounts for 1.66b), revenue is increasing a fair amount up almost a billion from previous year but here the good news just abruptly end, operation cost is growing by hundreds of millions a year despite general stability in salaries, rent, utilities, food etc and that's largely because of the unreal debt, 400m has been lost this year and while being the best year out of the last 3 the debt actually grew by 142m, AMCs cash flow is a horrifying list of debts with 421 million paid for interest alone an increase from the previous 2 years, the 400m lost this year might sound like a lot until you realize how deep this hole is with a terrible 11 billion debt, accounted for stock equity - stock owners currently will be 2 billion in debt after bankruptcy (that is thanks to 9b in assets that can be liquidated, down from 9.135b last year) meaning if this company goes bankrupt it's worth somehow less than 0 and well honestly that's really all it is, it's a losing company that has crippling debt that due to having to pay it the company turns profit into an ever growing loss every year with absolutely no ability to recover, there's nothing to be gained if you even sell everything right now (in company assets terms not your worthless shares) - doubling sells is the only way to even start climbing out of this debt hole you made for yourself and that would still take 10 years or so to reach the point where selling all physical assets at full price will leave stockholders with 0 instead of debt, covering the full debt and becoming profitable such that payment goes to investor pocket rather than debtor pocket will take nothing short of 20 years of flourishing at levels beyond anything ever witnessed in movie theater history - AMC will need to be the ONLY theater in the US at the current revenue for movies the US currently sees (not the largest which it is - the only one) this makes AMC's true FMV around negative 9 with growth expectations to negative 7.5, in other words where GME holders should want bankruptcy to save some money - AMC bankrupted will not put anything in your pocket anyway, expect to break record lows until bankruptcy is declared and expect to get absolutely 0 as stock holders get paid after debtors and there will be negative left.
What is happening today with the CPI reading is the market realizing that any attempt to restructure that debt will be more expensive than previously thought for AMC. The future AMC thought they might potentially have after meeting with the debt holders weeks ago is already out the window and needs a fresh start negotiation with an even weaker position for AMC.
