The day’s biggest mover was the aluminum cash price which dropped by 1.8 percent on Jan. 29, 2013 to close at $2,006 per metric ton on the LME. The aluminum 3-month price weakened by 1.4 percent on the LME, settling at $2,045 per metric ton.
The Indian aluminum cash price declined 1 percent.
Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day. The price of Chinese aluminum billet fell 0.3 percent on Tuesday after two days of no change. The Chinese aluminum cash price, scrap price, and bar price all remained essentially flat.
Current Copper Prices
The 3-month price of copper experienced the biggest price decline of the day, dropping 0.6 percent on the LME to close at $8,014 per metric ton on Jan. 29, 2013. The cash price of primary copper saw a 0.5 percent decline on the LME to $8,049 per metric ton.
The price of US copper producer grade 122 is back up, rising by 0.2 percent on Tuesday. Following a two-day drop, the price of US copper producer grade 110 increased by 0.2 percent as well. After falling for two days, the price of US copper producer grade 102 also rose 0.2 percent.
The cash price of primary Japanese copper saw little movement.
Chinese copper prices closed flat for the day.
