Unity Software (NYSE: U) shares surged 5% in Friday pre-market trading, extending a massive 15% rally from Thursday. The catalyst? A stellar second-quarter earnings report that crushed Wall Street expectations and triggered a flurry of upgrades from top-tier analysts, who see the company’s Vector advertising platform as a major growth engine.

Deutsche Bank, BofA Securities, HSBC, and Benchmark all upgraded the stock to Buy from Hold, with Deutsche Bank, BofA, and Benchmark setting price targets of $50, up from $31, $30, and no prior target, respectively.

Unity reported revenue of $546 million, up 24% YoY, and adjusted EBITDA of $160 million, representing a 29% margin and 800 basis points of YoY expansion. Strategic Grow revenue increased 63% YoY to $329 million, with Vector up 23% quarter-over-quarter and 90% YoY, while strategic Create grew 14% excluding a prior-year one-time item.

The upgrades centered on the performance of Unity’s Vector advertising platform, which analysts view as entering a sustained growth cycle. BofA analyst Omar Desspuky commented, "We upgrade Unity to Buy from Neutral, as we now see a Vector growth runway sustainable through year-end CY27. We view Unity Ads’ blowout quarter as an inflection point."

Deutsche Bank analyst Ben Black noted, "Unity’s 2Q26 results validate our view that Vector has entered the early stages of a sustained growth cycle. Much like AppLovin following the launch of AXON 2, Vector’s performance now appears to be compounding across product improvements, better data and higher advertiser spend."

UBS analyst Stephen Ju maintained a Neutral rating but raised the price target to $48 from $32, citing runtime data integration earlier than expected. Ju acknowledged the accelerated capture of gaming app ad budgets and the margin benefits of sunsetting the Supersonic platform. However, he cautioned that as the Vector catalyst gets priced in, investor focus may shift back to long-term AI disintermediation risks and the potential disruption from transitioning game creators to the upcoming Unity 7 engine in 2027.
