Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Services and Telecoms sectors led shares higher while losses in the Finance & Investment, Banking and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.73%, while the ADX General index added 0.29%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which rose 8.22% or 0.056 points to trade at 0.737 at the close. Meanwhile, Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) added 3.57% or 0.021 points to end at 0.610 and Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) was up 2.87% or 0.050 points to 1.790 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO), which fell 4.31% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.110 at the close. Dubai Islamic Bank (DU:DISB) declined 1.71% or 0.130 points to end at 7.470 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) was down 1.61% or 0.010 points to 0.610.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which rose 12.50% to 3.15, Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which was up 4.27% to settle at 8.80 and Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which gained 3.33% to close at 0.620.
The worst performers were Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which was down 2.26% to 2.60 in late trade, Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which lost 1.64% to settle at 0.600 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 1.14% to 0.870 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 20 to 6 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 15 rose and 7 declined, while 3 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.01% or 0.01 to $43.87 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.42% or 0.20 to hit $49.45 a barrel, while the December Gold contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1094.10 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.27% to 4.0156.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 97.93.
