Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Staples and Transport sectors led shares higher while losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Banking and Finance & Investment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.68%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU), which rose 1.50% or 0.080 points to trade at 5.410 at the close. Meanwhile, Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) added 1.28% or 0.011 points to end at 0.871 and Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) was up 1.00% or 0.010 points to 1.010 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which fell 8.47% or 0.255 points to trade at 2.750 at the close. SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) declined 5.13% or 0.060 points to end at 1.110 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) was down 2.15% or 0.009 points to 0.410.
The top performers on the ADX General were National Bank of Fujairah PJSC (AD:NBF) which rose 9.67% to 3.29, Union Cement (AD:UCC) which was up 4.00% to settle at 1.300 and Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which gained 3.50% to close at 5.62.
The worst performers were Em Driving Co (AD:DRIV) which was down 10.00% to 8.10 in late trade, Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which lost 9.37% to settle at 1.160 and Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which was down 7.20% to 2.320 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 19 to 13 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 fell and 11 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) fell to 52-week lows; down 8.47% or 0.255 to 2.750. Shares in Union Cement (AD:UCC) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.00% or 0.050 to 1.300.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.50% or 0.22 to $44.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.26% or 0.12 to hit $46.80 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.56% or 6.97 to trade at $1253.87 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED rose 0.22% to 4.1745.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 95.94.
