Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Finance & Investment, Consumer Staples and Real Estate & Construction sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.85%, while the ADX General index fell 0.38%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 1.07% or 0.030 points to trade at 2.840 at the close. Meanwhile, SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) added 0.93% or 0.006 points to end at 0.649 and Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) was up 0.71% or 0.010 points to 1.410 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM), which fell 2.78% or 0.040 points to trade at 1.400 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) declined 2.24% or 0.014 points to end at 0.610 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was down 1.87% or 0.020 points to 1.050.

The top performers on the ADX General were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which rose 7.69% to 0.420, Em Driving Co (AD:DRIV) which was up 3.45% to settle at 7.50 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which gained 3.36% to close at 1.54.

The worst performers were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was down 6.69% to 2.650 in late trade, Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which lost 5.04% to settle at 6.60 and Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was down 3.45% to 0.8400 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 24 to 6 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 14 fell and 11 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged.

Shares in Em Driving Co (AD:DRIV) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 3.45% or 0.25 to 7.50.

Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.52% or 0.24 to $46.34 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.51% or 0.25 to hit $48.98 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.67% or 9.15 to trade at $1347.75 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED fell 0.09% to 4.1388.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 94.90.
