Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Services and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 0.72%, while the ADX General index lost 1.86%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI), which rose 1.89% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.484 at the close. Meanwhile, Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) added 1.84% or 0.110 points to end at 6.100 and Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) was up 1.63% or 0.100 points to 6.250 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which fell 7.58% or 0.150 points to trade at 1.830 at the close. Dubai Islamic Bank (DU:DISB) declined 6.64% or 0.430 points to end at 6.050 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was down 3.36% or 0.040 points to 1.150.
The top performers on the ADX General were Rak Cmt & Cons (AD:RAKC) which rose 14.66% to 1.33, Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was up 5.74% to settle at 7.00 and Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which gained 2.16% to close at 8.99.
The worst performers were Abd Nat Takafu (AD:TKFL) which was down 10.00% to 4.77 in late trade, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which lost 8.08% to settle at 0.91 and Foodco Holding PJSC (AD:FOOD) which was down 6.17% to 3.80 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 13 to 12 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 20 fell and 6 advanced, while 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.63% or 0.100 to 6.250.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.81% or 0.31 to $37.98 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.19% or 0.49 to hit $40.58 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.69% or 8.70 to trade at $1248.70 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.30% to 4.0300.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 97.39.
