United Arab Emirates stocks lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.24%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Services and Transport sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.24%, while the ADX General index fell 0.43%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which rose 4.03% or 0.025 points to trade at 0.645 at the close. Meanwhile, Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) added 3.30% or 0.060 points to end at 1.880 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was up 1.89% or 0.010 points to 0.540 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC), which fell 7.94% or 0.250 points to trade at 2.900 at the close. Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) declined 3.76% or 0.018 points to end at 0.461 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) was down 3.47% or 0.060 points to 1.670.

The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which rose 7.69% to 0.98, Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which was up 2.33% to settle at 0.440 and Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which gained 1.83% to close at 2.78.

The worst performers were Rak Cmt & Cons (AD:RAKC) which was down 9.77% to 1.20 in late trade, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which lost 3.57% to settle at 0.810 and Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which was down 3.16% to 0.92 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 19 to 9 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 16 fell and 7 advanced, while 3 ended unchanged.

Shares in National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.94% or 0.250 to 2.900.

Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.63% or 0.26 to $40.88 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $41.20 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.41% or 5.20 to trade at $1249.10 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.07% to 4.1422.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 95.11.
