Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Telecoms and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 0.37%, while the ADX General index climbed 1.16%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which rose 14.89% or 0.126 points to trade at 0.972 at the close. Meanwhile, Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 5.31% or 0.060 points to end at 1.190 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) was up 5.16% or 0.022 points to 0.448 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC), which fell 3.01% or 0.090 points to trade at 2.900 at the close. ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) declined 2.16% or 0.110 points to end at 4.990 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) was down 0.84% or 0.010 points to 1.180.
The top performers on the ADX General were Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which rose 13.04% to 0.780, National Bank of Fujairah PJSC (AD:NBF) which was up 10.03% to settle at 3.29 and Union Cement (AD:UCC) which gained 8.70% to close at 1.250.
The worst performers were Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which was down 6.58% to 1.420 in late trade, Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which lost 5.62% to settle at 2.350 and Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was down 2.81% to 5.53 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 28 to 6 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 16 rose and 8 declined, while 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.58% or 0.100 to 1.420.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.12% or 0.06 to $48.38 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.18% or 0.09 to hit $50.67 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.52% or 6.67 to trade at $1265.33 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED fell 0.12% to 4.1234.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 97.09.
