Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Mining and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN), which rose 3.29% or 50.00 points to trade at 1569.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 2.33% or 45.20 points to end at 1980.80 and Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) was up 2.16% or 7.30 points to 344.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP), which fell 4.09% or 4.10 points to trade at 96.10 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 2.10% or 24.00 points to end at 1117.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was down 2.05% or 11.00 points to 525.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1061 to 972 and 339 ended unchanged.
Shares in Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) rose to all time highs; rising 3.29% or 50.00 to 1569.00.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.70% or 8.95 to $1280.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.63% or 0.39 to hit $62.20 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.64% or 0.45 to trade at $71.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.90% to 1.3152, while EUR/GBP fell 0.70% to 0.8513.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 97.282.
