U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.06%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Food Producers, Tobacco and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.06%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 2.42% or 43.00 points to trade at 1818.00 at the close. Meanwhile, RSA Insurance Group PLC (LON:RSA) added 1.58% or 10.00 points to end at 640.80 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was up 1.34% or 31.00 points to 2338.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU), which fell 2.14% or 3.34 points to trade at 153.00 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 1.97% or 16.60 points to end at 827.00 and Capita PLC (LON:CPI) was down 1.75% or 2.45 points to 137.20.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1027 to 913 and 371 ended unchanged.

Shares in Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.42% or 43.00 to 1818.00. Shares in Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.97% or 16.60 to 827.00.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 1.50 to $1185.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.52% or 0.34 to hit $65.80 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.34 to trade at $71.77 a barrel.

GBP/USD was up 0.18% to 1.2738, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8960.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 96.16.
