Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Life Insurance/Assurance and Industrial Transportation sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 declined 1.37%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Experian Plc (LONDON:EXPN), which rose 3.14% or 37.00 points to trade at 1214.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo Plc (LONDON:FRES) added 1.71% or 12.00 points to end at 713.50 and Antofagasta (LONDON:ANTO) was up 1.15% or 9.00 points to 791.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were easyJet Plc (LONDON:EZJ), which fell 9.77% or 179.00 points to trade at 1654.00 at the close. Kingfisher (LONDON:KGF) declined 3.54% or 13.10 points to end at 357.50 and Aberdeen Asset Management Plc (LONDON:ADN) was down 3.44% or 15.50 points to 434.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1921 to 697 and 449 ended unchanged.
Shares in Experian Plc (LONDON:EXPN) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.14% or 37.00 to 1214.00.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.84% or 9.90 to $1192.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.51% or 1.49 to hit $60.74 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.77% or 1.82 to trade at $67.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.68% to 1.5693, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.7167.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.71% at 94.44.
