Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Food & Drug Retailers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.53%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 6.22% or 11.50 points to trade at 196.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 5.71% or 46.50 points to end at 860.90 and Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) was up 4.19% or 7.10 points to 176.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which fell 0.74% or 3.10 points to trade at 415.80 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 0.47% or 5.000 points to end at 1070.000 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was down 0.47% or 5.00 points to 1062.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1421 to 719 and 438 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.55% or 7.15 to $1317.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.70% or 0.74 to hit $44.36 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.75% or 0.80 to trade at $46.57 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.38% to 1.3050, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8563.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 95.73.
