Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.03% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 8.12% or 41.10 points to trade at 547.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Weir Group PLC (LON:WEIR) added 6.25% or 62.00 points to end at 1054.00 and BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) was up 4.54% or 33.00 points to 760.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Experian PLC (LON:EXPN), which fell 1.27% or 16.00 points to trade at 1239.00 at the close. Shire PLC (LON:SHP) declined 1.00% or 43.00 points to end at 4250.00 and Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) was down 0.95% or 24.00 points to 2500.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1516 to 597 and 465 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.32% or 4.00 to $1241.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 6.15% or 2.29 to hit $39.55 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 5.91% or 2.33 to trade at $41.76 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.35% to 1.4106, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8085.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 94.24.
