Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 5.01% or 14.40 points to trade at 301.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) added 4.09% or 132.50 points to end at 3374.50 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 4.00% or 41.00 points to 1065.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which fell 2.79% or 41.00 points to trade at 1429.00 at the close. Provident Financial (LON:PFG) declined 2.67% or 65.00 points to end at 2368.00 and Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO) was down 1.85% or 42.00 points to 2229.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1024 to 924 and 409 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) fell to 3-years lows; down 2.79% or 41.00 to 1429.00.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.51% or 18.80 to $1223.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.56% or 0.72 to hit $46.76 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.33% or 0.65 to trade at $49.42 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.58% to 1.2952, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.8775.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.56% at 95.92.
