Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Food Producers, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Shire PLC (LON:SHP), which rose 2.89% or 118.00 points to trade at 4200.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 2.10% or 42.00 points to end at 2039.00 and Aberdeen Asset Management PLC (LON:ADN) was up 2.08% or 5.60 points to 275.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which fell 2.77% or 30.00 points to trade at 1051.00 at the close. Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) declined 2.52% or 34.00 points to end at 1314.00 and Next PLC (LON:NXT) was down 2.48% or 135.00 points to 5310.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1145 to 1005 and 474 ended unchanged.

Gold for June delivery was down 0.25% or 3.00 to $1220.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.49% or 0.18 to hit $36.61 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.85% or 0.33 to trade at $38.34 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.41% to 1.4283, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.7976.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 94.51.
