Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.10% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 5.25% or 39.50 points to trade at 792.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) added 3.88% or 90.500 points to end at 2423.500 and BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) was up 3.37% or 32.50 points to 997.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which fell 4.44% or 61.00 points to trade at 1314.00 at the close. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) declined 2.85% or 12.850 points to end at 438.250 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was down 2.43% or 83.00 points to 3330.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1057 to 1027 and 426 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.16% or 2.00 to $1256.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.39% or 0.59 to hit $43.06 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.48% or 0.65 to trade at $44.68 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.11% to 1.4381, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.7881.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 94.22.
