Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Glass and Optoelectronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Via Tech (TW:2388), which rose 10.00% or 1.00 points to trade at 11.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Prime Eltrs (TW:6152) added 9.72% or 1.05 points to end at 11.85 and Yon Yu Plastic (TW:1323) was up 9.53% or 2.85 points to 32.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tpk Holding (TW:3673), which fell 9.98% or 8.80 points to trade at 79.40 at the close. Arcadyan Tech (TW:3596) declined 9.94% or 5.05 points to end at 45.75 and Epistar (TW:2448) was down 9.87% or 2.60 points to 23.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 728 to 82 and 41 ended unchanged.
Shares in Via Tech (TW:2388) rose to 52-week highs; rising 10.00% or 1.00 to 11.00.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.24% or 0.46 to $36.72 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.19% or 0.47 to hit $39.06 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.20% or 14.90 to trade at $1230.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.28% to 32.774, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.1990.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 96.61.
