Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Hotels and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius (TW:3406), which rose 10.00% or 10.00 points to trade at 110.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Jenn Feng (TW:1538) added 9.98% or 0.58 points to end at 6.39 and Tpcc (TW:4725) was up 9.90% or 2.00 points to 22.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Transasia (TW:6702), which fell 9.70% or 0.16 points to trade at 1.49 at the close. Li Cheng (TW:4426) declined 9.62% or 11.50 points to end at 108.00 and Coadna (TW:4984) was down 8.17% or 5.10 points to 57.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 474 to 299 and 100 ended unchanged.
Shares in Genius (TW:3406) rose to 52-week highs; up 10.00% or 10.00 to 110.00. Shares in Transasia (TW:6702) fell to all time lows; down 9.70% or 0.16 to 1.49. Shares in Tpcc (TW:4725) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.90% or 2.00 to 22.20.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 4.91% or 2.53 to $54.03 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 4.49% or 2.44 to hit $56.77 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.25% or 2.85 to trade at $1159.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.19% to 31.857, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2170.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 101.55.
