Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Glass sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531), which rose 9.96% or 7.30 points to trade at 80.60 at the close. Meanwhile, I-Hwa Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1456) added 9.91% or 1.05 points to end at 11.65 and Aopen (TW:3046) was up 9.83% or 0.51 points to 5.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which fell 5.37% or 0.90 points to trade at 15.85 at the close. Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) declined 4.29% or 0.180 points to end at 4.020 and Mospec (TW:2434) was down 4.20% or 0.25 points to 5.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 418 to 302 and 149 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for February delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $53.01 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $56.01 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.36% or 4.35 to trade at $1195.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.70% to 31.553, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2181.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 101.41.
