Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Construction, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.87% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165), which rose 10.00% or 1.65 points to trade at 18.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Pqi (TW:6145) added 10.00% or 1.20 points to end at 13.20 and Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) was up 10.00% or 0.88 points to 9.68 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coadna (TW:4984), which fell 9.96% or 6.90 points to trade at 62.40 at the close. Genius (TW:3406) declined 9.86% or 20.50 points to end at 187.50 and Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) was down 7.72% or 0.420 points to 5.020.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 604 to 203 and 74 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pqi (TW:6145) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 10.00% or 1.20 to 13.20.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.48% or 0.26 to $54.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.49% or 0.28 to hit $57.09 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.44% or 5.35 to trade at $1226.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.27% to 30.911, while TWD/CNY fell 0.68% to 0.2207.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 99.75.
