Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.79% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Li Cheng (TW:4426), which rose 10.00% or 8.60 points to trade at 94.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Meiloon Ind (TW:2477) added 10.00% or 1.75 points to end at 19.25 and Sdi Corp (TW:2351) was up 9.96% or 4.90 points to 54.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which fell 9.75% or 1.15 points to trade at 10.65 at the close. I-Hwa Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1456) declined 9.62% or 1.50 points to end at 14.10 and Precision (TW:3016) was down 5.68% or 1.35 points to 22.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 415 to 373 and 90 ended unchanged.
Shares in Meiloon Ind (TW:2477) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 10.00% or 1.75 to 19.25. Shares in Sdi Corp (TW:2351) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.96% or 4.90 to 54.10.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.25% or 0.13 to $53.13 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.25% or 0.14 to hit $55.77 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.96% or 11.85 to trade at $1224.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.05% to 31.060, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2212.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 100.70.
