Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Plastic and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.63% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Aopen (TW:3046), which rose 10.00% or 0.64 points to trade at 7.04 at the close. Meanwhile, Mercuries Data (TW:2427) added 9.97% or 0.62 points to end at 6.84 and Promise Technology Inc (TW:3057) was up 9.90% or 1.50 points to 16.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Elitegroup Com (TW:2331), which fell 10.00% or 1.95 points to trade at 17.55 at the close. Candmark (TW:5259) declined 9.78% or 0.27 points to end at 2.49 and Calin (TW:4976) was down 7.08% or 1.50 points to 19.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 392 to 352 and 107 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.27% or 0.12 to $44.88 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.41% or 0.19 to hit $46.44 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.10% or 1.35 to trade at $1355.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 32.204, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2084.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 96.44.
