Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Other Electronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.43% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Twinhead Intl (TW:2364), which rose 10.00% or 0.170 points to trade at 1.870 at the close. Meanwhile, Ritek (TW:2349) added 9.97% or 0.360 points to end at 3.970 and Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) was up 9.81% or 0.96 points to 10.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were China Tv (TW:9928), which fell 5.36% or 0.32 points to trade at 5.65 at the close. Bright Led (TW:3031) declined 4.48% or 0.50 points to end at 10.65 and Jean (TW:2442) was down 4.34% or 0.26 points to 5.73.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 400 to 332 and 120 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ritek (TW:2349) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.97% or 0.360 to 3.970. Shares in Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.81% or 0.96 to 10.75.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.21% or 0.09 to $42.83 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.49% or 0.22 to hit $45.01 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.16% or 2.15 to trade at $1326.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.07% to 32.080, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2077.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 97.24.
