Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Electricity and Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were 1St Copper Tec (TW:2009), which rose 10.00% or 1.00 points to trade at 11.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bonny Worldwide Ltd (TW:8467) added 9.99% or 3.50 points to end at 38.55 and Inventec Besta (TW:8201) was up 9.89% or 0.90 points to 10.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Genius (TW:3406), which fell 9.85% or 23.00 points to trade at 210.50 at the close. Lemtech Holdings Co Ltd (TW:4912) declined 9.70% or 13.00 points to end at 121.00 and Asia Optical (TW:3019) was down 6.92% or 3.80 points to 51.10.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 392 to 379 and 106 ended unchanged.
Shares in 1St Copper Tec (TW:2009) rose to 52-week highs; up 10.00% or 1.00 to 11.00.
Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.50% or 0.27 to $54.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $56.23 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.29% or 3.60 to trade at $1235.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 30.825, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2227.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 101.13.
