Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Hotels, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which rose 10.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) added 10.00% or 10.50 points to end at 115.50 and Promise Technology Inc (TW:3057) was up 9.91% or 0.92 points to 10.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Casetek Holdings Ltd (TW:5264), which fell 9.94% or 6.30 points to trade at 57.10 at the close. Tung Kai Technology Engineering Co Ltd (TW:3018) declined 9.92% or 5.00 points to end at 45.40 and Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) was down 9.82% or 1.95 points to 17.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 437 to 375 and 108 ended unchanged.
Shares in Casetek Holdings Ltd (TW:5264) fell to all time lows; falling 9.94% or 6.30 to 57.10. Shares in Tung Kai Technology Engineering Co Ltd (TW:3018) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.92% or 5.00 to 45.40.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.06% or 0.04 to $65.17 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $71.91 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.81% or 9.60 to trade at $1193.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.12% to 30.762, while TWD/CNY fell 0.54% to 0.2231.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 96.11.
