Pacific Gas & Electric (NYSE:PCG) stock rose 5.2% after some of its creditors proposed a $35 billion plan for the utility company to exit bankruptcy in a year, Bloomberg reported.
Accenture (NYSE:ACN) stock jumped 5.1% after its fiscal second-quarter earnings beat estimates and it increased its full-year financial guidance on the back of buoyant digital and cloud service investment bookings.
Canopy Growth (NYSE:CGC) stock was down 1.1% on news that it took a minority stake in a cannabis venture founded by actor Seth Rogen.
British American Tobacco (NYSE:BTI) stock gained 0.6% after Citi upgraded the company to buy from neutral, according to CNBC.
Fiat Chrysler (NYSE:FCAU) stock fell 1.1% on news that Volkswagen (DE:VOWG_p) CEO Herbert Diess is not interested in acquiring it, just a day after reports that Renault (PA:RENA) is planning to pursue Fiat should it conclude merger talks with Nissan. France's Peugeot has also approached Fiat Chrysler in the recent past, according to reports.
