Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.40%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL), which rose 3.88% or 0.37 points to trade at 9.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Gamesa (MC:GAM) added 2.86% or 0.495 points to end at 17.820 and Mapfre (MC:MAP) was up 2.59% or 0.053 points to 2.099 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Viscofan (MC:VIS), which fell 1.73% or 0.855 points to trade at 48.720 at the close. Banco Popular (MC:POP) declined 1.07% or 0.015 points to end at 1.391 and Red Electrica Corp. (MC:REE) was down 1.05% or 0.830 points to 78.040.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 104 to 78 and 23 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.13% or 1.65 to $1270.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.26% or 0.63 to hit $49.22 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.30% or 0.66 to trade at $49.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.68% to 1.1317, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.7693.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.51% at 93.68.
