Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Building & Construction, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 9.52% or 0.348 points to trade at 4.004 at the close. Meanwhile, Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL) added 4.40% or 0.241 points to end at 5.723 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was up 3.81% or 0.369 points to 10.045 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Popular (MC:POP), which fell 3.28% or 0.085 points to trade at 2.506 at the close. Bankia (MC:BKIA) declined 2.88% or 0.027 points to end at 0.910 and Bankinter (MC:BKT) was down 1.81% or 0.118 points to 6.401.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 117 to 87 and 16 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was up 2.92% or 35.90 to $1265.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 3.67% or 1.41 to hit $39.87 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.31% or 0.93 to trade at $41.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.87% to 1.1323, while EUR/GBP fell 0.71% to 0.7815.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.01% at 94.73.
