Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Building & Construction, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.36% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM), which rose 2.38% or 0.325 points to trade at 14.000 at the close. Meanwhile, Inmobiliaria Colonial SA (MC:COL) added 1.86% or 0.185 points to end at 10.140 and Viscofan (MC:VIS) was up 1.70% or 0.950 points to 56.850 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bankia SA (MC:BKIA), which fell 0.56% or 0.020 points to trade at 3.567 at the close. Mapfre (MC:MAP) declined 0.52% or 0.015 points to end at 2.891 and Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) was down 0.48% or 0.060 points to 12.380.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 120 to 56 and 26 ended unchanged.
Shares in Inmobiliaria Colonial SA (MC:COL) rose to 5-year highs; rising 1.86% or 0.185 to 10.140.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.05% or 0.60 to $1314.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.23% or 0.86 to hit $70.58 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.62% or 1.21 to trade at $76.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.1932, while EUR/GBP fell 0.51% to 0.8796.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 92.54.
