Investing.com – Singapore stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Singapore, the Singapore Straits Time gained 0.55%.
The best performers of the session on the Singapore Straits Time were Jardine Strategic Hldgs Ltd (SIN:JSH), which rose 5.30% or 1.61 points to trade at 32.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Jardine Matheson Hldgs Ltd (SIN:JARD) added 4.40% or 2.38 points to end at 56.48 and Thai Beverage Public Co Ltd (SIN:TBEV) was up 1.32% or 0.010 points to 0.765 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hongkong Land Holdings Limited (SIN:HKLD), which fell 0.87% or 0.07 points to trade at 7.98 at the close. Noble Group Limited (SIN:NOBG) declined 0.73% or 0.005 points to end at 0.680 and Singtel (SIN:STEL) was down 0.69% or 0.03 points to 4.29.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Singapore Stock Exchange by 231 to 208 and 43 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.07% or 0.56 to $52.48 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.19% or 0.70 to hit $57.98 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.07% or 0.80 to trade at $1154.30 a troy ounce.
USD/SGD was up 0.10% to 1.3625, while EUR/SGD rose 0.24% to 1.5021.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 96.77.
