Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 1.06%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 4.79% or 0.0066 points to trade at 0.1445 at the close. Meanwhile, Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) added 4.36% or 0.0260 points to end at 0.6230 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 3.00% or 2.53 points to 87.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MTS (MCX:MTSS), which fell 4.58% or 12.30 points to trade at 256.00 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 4.11% or 1.040 points to end at 24.240 and Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC) was down 3.08% or 1.600 points to 50.300.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 125 to 96 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in FSK EES (MCX:FEES) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 4.79% or 0.0066 to 0.1445.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.04% to 35.080.
Gold for August delivery was up 1.39% or 17.85 to $1306.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.02% or 1.45 to hit $46.56 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.94% or 1.44 to trade at $47.53 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.01% to 65.5517, while EUR/RUB fell 0.54% to 73.362.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 95.09.
