Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 1.47%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA), which rose 2.00% or 0.162 points to trade at 8.269 at the close. Meanwhile, Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) added 0.22% or 0.0040 points to end at 1.8140 and Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) was up 0.18% or 0.0020 points to 1.1310 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR), which fell 5.70% or 0.3680 points to trade at 6.0860 at the close. EDP (LS:EDP) declined 3.07% or 0.0900 points to end at 2.8400 and Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) was down 2.48% or 0.0060 points to 0.2360.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 33 to 11 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.70% or 0.3680 to 6.0860.
Brent oil for January delivery was up 1.19% or 0.55 to $46.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.47% or 0.66 to hit $45.64 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.15% or 1.95 to trade at $1276.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.77% to 1.0941, while EUR/GBP fell 1.21% to 0.8796.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 98.42.
