Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Utilities and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.33% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco BPI (LS:BBPI), which rose 2.87% or 0.0370 points to trade at 1.3250 at the close. Meanwhile, J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) added 2.10% or 0.2900 points to end at 14.0850 and EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) was up 2.09% or 0.1380 points to 6.7380 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Montepio (LS:MPIO), which fell 4.58% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.625 at the close. Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) declined 3.92% or 0.0760 points to end at 1.8610 and Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) was down 2.90% or 0.0040 points to 0.1340.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 24 to 24 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.10% or 0.2900 to 14.0850.
Brent oil for May delivery was up 0.36% or 0.15 to $41.35 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.53% or 0.22 to hit $41.36 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.80% or 10.00 to trade at $1244.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1246, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.7820.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 95.34.
