Investing.com – Norway stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Oslo, the Oslo OBX gained 1.58% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Oslo OBX were REC Silicon ASA (OL:REC), which rose 8.27% or 0.09 points to trade at 1.22 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroleum Geo - Services ASA (OL:PGS) added 4.33% or 1.23 points to end at 29.65 and Norsk Hydro ASA (OL:NHY) was up 3.49% or 1.45 points to 43.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Schibsted ASA B (OL:SBSTB), which fell 1.47% or 2.50 points to trade at 168.10 at the close. Seadrill Limited (OL:SDRL) declined 1.00% or 0.3 points to end at 26.6 and Schibsted ASA A (OL:SBSTA) was down 0.96% or 1.7 points to 176.1.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Oslo Stock Exchange by 93 to 80 and 31 ended unchanged.
Shares in Schibsted ASA B (OL:SBSTB) fell to all time lows; down 1.47% or 2.50 to 168.10. Shares in Norsk Hydro ASA (OL:NHY) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.49% or 1.45 to 43.04. Shares in Schibsted ASA A (OL:SBSTA) fell to 52-week lows; losing 0.96% or 1.7 to 176.1.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.33% or 0.66 to $50.43 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.11% or 0.59 to hit $53.59 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.39% or 4.65 to trade at $1172.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/NOK was down 0.36% to 8.9602, while USD/NOK rose 0.86% to 8.4345.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.83% at 101.11.
