Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance, Banking and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which rose 3.92% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.530 at the close. Meanwhile, Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 3.85% or 0.040 points to end at 1.080 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) was up 2.24% or 1.50 points to 68.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which fell 3.36% or 25.00 points to trade at 736.01 at the close. Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) declined 1.09% or 0.010 points to end at 0.910 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was down 0.47% or 0.03 points to 6.35.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 19 to 15 and 58 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.03% or 0.55 to $52.67 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.65% or 0.36 to hit $55.13 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.07% or 12.95 to trade at $1217.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.77% to 337.970, while USD/NGN fell 3.94% to 305.000.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.57% at 100.20.
