Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 1.77%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which rose 9.90% or 2.07 points to trade at 22.97 at the close. Meanwhile, Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 8.33% or 0.100 points to end at 1.300 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was up 4.98% or 1.54 points to 32.44 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which fell 9.74% or 3.98 points to trade at 36.87 at the close. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) declined 4.92% or 3.52 points to end at 67.98 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was down 4.69% or 0.030 points to 0.610.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 46 to 42 and 21 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.45% or 0.20 to $44.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.23% or 0.11 to hit $47.65 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.21% or 2.68 to trade at $1246.42 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.45% to 359.580, while USD/NGN fell 9.93% to 315.250.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 95.37.
