Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 1.06%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Relx NV (AS:RELN), which rose 1.38% or 0.205 points to trade at 15.110 at the close. Meanwhile, Gemalto (AS:GTO) added 0.84% or 0.49 points to end at 58.50 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was up 0.67% or 0.27 points to 40.27 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 4.79% or 0.24 points to trade at 4.85 at the close. Philips Kon (AS:PHG) declined 4.27% or 1.07 points to end at 24.07 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) was down 3.73% or 0.201 points to 5.184.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 110 to 49 and 13 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 7.39% to 20.19.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.46% or 0.64 to $43.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.78% or 0.35 to hit $44.72 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.98% or 12.05 to trade at $1242.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.45% to 1.1273, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.7776.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 94.69.
