Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 1.15%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO), which rose 4.39% or 0.48 points to trade at 11.41 at the close. Meanwhile, Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) added 3.67% or 0.81 points to end at 22.75 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) was up 1.91% or 0.92 points to 48.88 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which fell 0.47% or 0.26 points to trade at 55.32 at the close. KPN Kon (AS:KPN) declined 0.36% or 0.013 points to end at 3.566 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) was down 0.04% or 0.01 points to 18.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 123 to 45 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vopak (AS:VOPA) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.91% or 0.92 to 48.88.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.09% to 20.70.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.74% or 0.37 to $50.06 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.11% or 0.56 to hit $51.11 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.08% or 1.05 to trade at $1246.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1350, while EUR/GBP fell 0.85% to 0.7796.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 93.90.
