Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Materials and Financial Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 0.46% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB), which rose 2.91% or 1.19 points to trade at 42.13 at the close. Meanwhile, Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) added 1.87% or 0.570 points to end at 31.110 and Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEX) was up 1.72% or 0.760 points to 44.980 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX), which fell 2.08% or 0.460 points to trade at 21.680 at the close. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) declined 1.87% or 8.890 points to end at 466.800 and Arca Continental , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:AC) was down 1.50% or 1.950 points to 128.370.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 111 to 63 and 5 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.07% or 0.95 to $1333.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.66% or 0.30 to hit $45.98 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.26 to trade at $47.63 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 1.16% to 18.5681, while EUR/MXN rose 0.51% to 20.5135.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.53% at 96.61.
