Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Products, Consumer Products and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI rose 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB), which rose 2.42% or 0.15 points to trade at 6.35 at the close. Meanwhile, AMMB Holdings Bhd (KL:AMMB) added 2.13% or 0.12 points to end at 5.75 and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB) was up 1.45% or 0.22 points to 15.36 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB), which fell 1.11% or 0.06 points to trade at 5.34 at the close. Telekom Malaysia Bhd (KL:TLMM) declined 0.74% or 0.05 points to end at 6.70 and IHH Healthcare Bhd (KL:IHHH) was down 0.68% or 0.04 points to 5.84.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 271 to 271 and 39 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.82% or 0.96 to $51.78 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 2.08% or 1.23 to hit $57.77 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.31% or 3.60 to trade at $1154.30 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.10% to 2.8108, while USD/MYR rose 0.27% to 3.8036.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.60% at 96.53.
