Investing.com -- A Texas judge has ordered Tylenol-maker Kenvue Inc. and its former parent Johnson & Johnson to register with the Texas Secretary of State or risk being barred from doing business in the state.
State District Judge Gordon Green issued a temporary order Friday requiring the companies to comply with Texas business registration laws. The court scheduled a hearing for December 15 to determine if further restrictions on the companies’ Texas operations are needed.

The ruling comes in one of two lawsuits filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton against Kenvue and J&J. In a lawsuit filed last week, Paxton alleged that J&J allowed its state registration to lapse while Kenvue never registered at all.
In a separate October lawsuit, Paxton claimed the companies hid risks of autism and other disorders in children whose mothers took Tylenol during pregnancy. A judge declined in mid-November to immediately stop Kenvue from marketing Tylenol as safe for pregnant women.
Paxton described the registration order as a "major win" in a statement, adding: "I will not allow Big Pharma to operate above the law or put their greed ahead of Texans’ well-being."
