Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Trading and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Light Metal Holdings Co. (T:5703), which rose 2.37% or 5.0 points to trade at 216.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Electron Ltd. (T:8035) added 1.90% or 158.0 points to end at 8490.0 and NEC Corp. (T:6701) was up 1.64% or 4.0 points to 248.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5201), which fell 8.24% or 44.0 points to trade at 490.0 at the close. Furukawa Co., Ltd. (T:5715) declined 5.38% or 7.0 points to end at 123.0 and Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (T:8801) was down 4.50% or 96.0 points to 2039.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1748 to 210 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5201) fell to 3-years lows; losing 8.24% or 44.0 to 490.0. Shares in Furukawa Co., Ltd. (T:5715) fell to 3-years lows; losing 5.38% or 7.0 to 123.0. Shares in Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (T:8801) fell to 3-years lows; falling 4.50% or 96.0 to 2039.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.76% to 30.69.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.69% or 0.31 to $45.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.80% or 0.37 to hit $46.77 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.26% or 3.55 to trade at $1358.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.26% to 100.52, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 111.37.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 96.18.
