Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.76%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689), which rose 16.80% or 64.5 points to trade at 448.5 at the close. Meanwhile, Yamaha Motor Co Ltd (T:7272) added 4.79% or 105.0 points to end at 2295.0 and JGC Corp. (T:1963) was up 3.58% or 59.0 points to 1708.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Advantest Corp. (T:6857), which fell 7.57% or 440.0 points to trade at 5370.0 at the close. Rakuten Inc (T:4755) declined 5.76% or 57.0 points to end at 933.0 and Toray Industries, Inc. (T:3402) was down 5.03% or 40.7 points to 768.1.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2637 to 923 and 183 ended unchanged.
Shares in Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) rose to 52-week highs; rising 16.80% or 64.5 to 448.5.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 15.43.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.70% or 0.40 to $57.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.64% or 0.40 to hit $62.77 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.25% or 3.65 to trade at $1466.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.09% to 108.72, while EUR/JPY fell 0.09% to 119.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 98.235.
